Tragic death after train collision at Missouri crossing
In Joplin Missouri a 7-year-old girl Linda Diane Wolfe died from injuries after a pickup carrying her grandmother Betty Colson and another granddaughter Karen Sue DeVillers hit a Kansas City Southern passenger train at a crossing. Colson was seriously injured and DeVillers critically hurt. Police say Colson did not see the train.

Two Crashes Investigated by Police Yesterday
Three non-injury crashes were investigated, with two within city limits and one outside. William Loy, 17, in a 1960 Chevrolet and Ruth Smith, 33, in a 1954 Ford, collided at the 3rd Street subway. Loy’s car damaged $200 and Smith’s $25. Clem Greene, 62, in a 1960 Chevrolet and Clara Angleton, 25, in a 1949 Chevrolet half ton, collided on 2 W Main causing $45 and $50 damage respectively. Bertha Chandler and Mable Shook, both of R3, reported a minor collision on highway K39 east of Chanute between the city limits and river bridge with damage to Shook’s 1953 Chevrolet and Chandler’s 1956 Ford.

Car Crash Fatal for Marion Airman at Bridge Abutment
