Opening of Allen Bourbon County lake attracts 500 anglers
Rough winds and cold temperatures greeted about 500 fishermen at the Allen Bourbon County state lake opening four miles east of here. Father and son die in Larned area crash
A Wichita man and his son died when a station wagon and a pickup collided at a rural intersection near Larned Kansas Monday. Dewey Adamson Sr. 53 and Dewey Adamson Jr. 33 died later. Henry Wratail 47 of Larned was critically injured. Billy Lee Adamson 29 of Potwin survived with noncritical injuries. Sheriff L B Hess reported the collision and injuries.

York Seeks New Trial in Second Degree Manslaughter Case
A defense motion for a new trial for Howard York has been filed in district court and is set for hearing next Tuesday. York was convicted on October 27 of second degree manslaughter for the July 4 stabbing death of his roommate Caldwell Culton in a backroom of a residence at 818 North Santa Fe.
