North Vietnam demanded unconditional U.S. troop withdrawal and end of support for the South Vietnamese government. Radio Hanoi described the statement as the official government answer to Nixon's Nov. 3 speech, stating there can be no end to the war until conditions are met.
Patrick Dolan 18, son of Swift and Co Brazil VP, was abducted near Sao Paulo last Thursday and killed. Police say two men, Jose Dias Rezende and his son Jose Daniel Dias Rezende, held him for ransom of 12500 dollars, buried his body near the city, and were charged with kidnap slaying.
The U S troop count in Vietnam fell to 495 200 as of Oct 30 1969 the lowest in 22 months. The Nixon administration aims to reduce to 484 000 by mid December.
Judge Julius J. Hoffman sentenced Black Panther leader Bobby G. Seale to four years in prison for contempt of court during the conspiracy trial tied to disruptions at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. A mistrial was declared in Seale's case as the seven other defendants continued their trial in its seventh week. Seale had been brought in bound and gagged after a series of outbursts.
Three Topeka youths are bound over for trial on two felony counts each after a gang assault on the Fairbury Nebraska Junior College football team in September. Four others were convicted on misdemeanors and two were discharged for lack of evidence.
Funeral services set for Friday at 1 p.m. in Kansas City for The Rev. Earl A. Blackman 87 former Kansas Missouri American Legion chaplain and Longview Chapel pastor. He died Tuesday at Wadsworth Veterans Hospital. Survivor details listed with widow two daughters and five grandchildren. He long served as a church pastor and was known for boxing refereeing and defense advocacy. A separate item notes a bequest over 300000 to the University of Kansas Endowment Association from Mrs Clyde Bonebrake Lockwood of Taos New Mexico for painting and sculpture scholarships.

Wayne Lee Yowell 27 of 703 S Garfield started work today with the city fire department replacing Howard Schooley who left after six years to join Western Petrochemical. He is married to Bonnie Chickadonz and they have two children. In Independence two people, Hubert Vain Jr. 18 and William Gilliland 23, were killed in a two car crash when Ronald B. Lewis 27 ran a red light at high speed colliding with Robert J. Dunn 19.
North Vietnamese troops struck a South Vietnamese navy task force HQ in the Mekong Delta and attacked two American infantry camps in the central highlands. Casualties totaled 36 Allied deaths with 125 wounded, while 105 North Vietnamese were reported killed. Nine Americans died and 27 were wounded in the highlands.
Washington officials warn Hanoi may increase troop infiltration as weather improves, threatening Nixon's withdrawal timetable. TOPEKA AP Governor Docking disclosed that Republican Atty Gen Kent Frizzell provided nine complaints involving four officials as part of investigations into influence peddling in the Docking administration. Frizzell said agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are not involved and that the probes are run by his staff.
Bogart, a Docking appointee, was charged in Shawnee County District Court on Oct 31 with seeking a pardon for Kansas oilman Leon Smitherman. He denied filing. posted $500 bond and a hearing was set after Jan. 1. Docking fired acting pardon attorney Robert Ochs for late reporting. Ochs disputed the governor’s claim.
