Police describe a dangerous Halloween with gasoline tires piled at Main Street intersections and on the Lincoln Street viaduct set aflame. A flaming tire rolled down Main while two fire calls answered. meters were opened, benches nosed, and vandals held by police. Teens and young women aided mischief from 15 to 20 years old. Farm Home Damaged by Fire Near Chanute
Fire at the James Fail farm home about 11 miles southwest of Chanute this morning damaged a basement floor. Fire department crews responded at 6:05 a.m. and said the blaze likely started when a porch swing cushion near an electric hot water heater caught fire. A hole was cut in the floor to fight the blaze and floor boards were scorched.

Two Killed in Highway Crash near Kansas City
Two cars collided at the U S 73 and old U S 40 intersection west of Kansas City killing Harvey Dean Wogan a 19 year old of Leavenworth and Mrs Myfawny Brown 33 of Topeka. William V White of Topeka was critically injured with a possible broken spine. Lt Ralph Athey said Brown ran a stop sign. Wogan died later and his death will be charged to Wyandotte County. Brown was a widow with an 8 year old child.
