Kansas energy official says natural gas curtailments hit state
Kansas Fuels Coordinator Harold Wills says the natural gas situation and its economic consequences loom as the major fuel problem this summer. A U.S. report shows interstate curtailments totaling 2.4 trillion cubic feet from 1974 75, potentially rising to 3.5 trillion. Gas supplies dominate Kansas energy, while diesel and heating oil may help but many industries lack alternatives. Gov Bennett plans a broader energy office and has named William Hambleton acting director during the transition. Wills will leave June 17 under the reorganization authorized by the 1975 Legislature.
