Lightning strikes farm near Eudora destroying home
Lightning damaged the Ralph Nuttall farm northeast of Eudora. The family home burned after a bolt hit the chimney, with a barn and an equipment shed also destroyed. No injuries were reported, and only a few clothes and a metal box with personal papers were saved.

Severe thunderstorm forecast for parts of Kansas Missouri
The Weather Bureau warned of a severe thunderstorm from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. across east central and southeast Kansas, extreme northeast Oklahoma, and parts of west central and southwest Missouri. Large hail and damaging surface winds are expected within 60 miles of a line from Salina to Joplin.

St Paul Man Elbert Frost In Critical Condition
Elbert Frost a 33 year old St Paul man was listed in critical condition at Neosho Memorial Hospital after being transferred from the Erie county jail. Sheriff Jerry Sloan said Frost appeared ill from a self administered substance taken before jail. Frost was found at his home at 1 am placed in jail as a protective measure and re examined when his condition worsened. The sheriff could not determine the substance involved.
