Nu-Wa Folding Campers Expands Fast in Local Industry
Nu-Wa Folding Campers Inc formed in February 1963 by Reuben Willis Wayne Greene and Melvin Willis grew from a three man venture in a converted schoolhouse to an operation with about 15 workers and a monthly payroll near $10 000. The firm plans further expansion including an extra two acres and possible second factory while building 260 campers to date and lining up 300 dealers across Kansas Nebraska Iowa Missouri Colorado Oklahoma Arkansas northern Texas with sales in a 700 mile radius of Chanute. The four models include a large camper at 795 dollars sleeping six and a small model at 675 dollars sleeping three plus two pickup covers at 315 and 330 dollars. Continuous production runs two weeks behind orders as the company expands its plant a paint shop and a loading dock.
