A 66 year old Topeka man died early today when the car he rode in struck a tree in east Topeka. The driver, 48 year old Luke Oakes of Topeka, was hospitalized with injuries. It was Topeka’s fourth traffic fatality of the year.
The Legislative Council education committee will launch a broad study of Kansas education next Tuesday at the Statehouse. Officials from 17 state organizations were invited to join a panel examining system scope and supervision, with possible constitutional amendments and a policy making state board of education as a key objective.
