Intruders broke into three Chanute public schools. Royster Junior High School reported the only loss. About 24 dollars vanished from Royster, with 13 in ones and the rest in coins. Five vending machines were pried open and blood was found on a broken office door pane. Wayne Reeves, the janitor, found the break at 4:05 a.m. Police noted entry through a north door with a faulty lock.

Parsons Woman Hurt in Accident at Park Field
Mrs. F. E. Fridley, 64, of Parsons suffered bruises and shock after being struck by a car driven by Arthur L. Bennett, 67, at the Highland Park softball field. Car Truck Crash Fatal to Youth in Riverside
Ronnie Wade seventeen died when his car struck a parked lumber truck on U S 69 in Riverside. His brother Richard Wade twenty, the car driver, was injured and hospitalized. Riverside marshal Vern Davis said the truck was parked on the shoulder and extended four feet into the roadway.
