The 10 percent retail excise on handbags luggage and jewelry would end July 1. Manufacturer taxes 5 to 10 percent drop by July 1 on machines sporting goods radios TVs phonographs records instruments cameras film photo gear refrigerators freezers air conditioners electric gas and oil appliances lighters and more. Auto excise falls to 7 percent July 1 and to 6 in 1966 then 5 in 1967. Retail taxes end July 1 on safe deposit boxes amusements bowling and pool. Gary Howell age 19 of 1123 S Grant was injured when a 1955 Simplex motorcycle he rode collided with a 1955 Ford driven by Robert Tucker at the N Washington Sycamore intersection. Three Chanute youths aged 14 and 16 were detained at Chanute police station after a prowler report on 821 S Plummer at 9 25 p m.
