Big Area Crop Year Ahead Requires Rain to Thrive

County agents warn four counties face a dry year with moisture as the decisive factor. Spring planting slowed by drought as corn and sorghum progress lag. alfalfa is being cut early. Estimates show 50 to 60 percent of corn in with more planting possible if rains come, while wheat acreage faces uncertain yields. Spring Farm & Home Show Set for Friday and Saturday

Twenty six exhibitors have purchased booths for the Spring Farm and Home Show to run Friday and Saturday at the National Guard Armory. General chairman John Gorter said 28 spaces are filled, with two double booths, at 20 dollars for a single and 40 dollars for a double. The event is co sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the JayCees and aims to cover about 650 dollars in expenses, needing six or seven more exhibitors to break even.
