The city commission discussed issuing revenue bonds to acquire and complete three new parking lots and postponed adjourned consideration to today after a bonding attorney call. It also directed the city attorney to draft an ordinance aligning with state private club law classifying clubs as A or B with state licenses, local fees, and renewal rules.
New York AP reports attendance at the World’s Fair for the first 20 days of the season is down by more than 500 thousand from the previous year. Officials hope a rise will occur when school vacations start. Total paid attendance this year through Monday is 1,689,691 versus 2,228,572 last year, a drop of 538,881.
Prime Minister Harold Wilson told NATO ministers that military nationalism is a dangerous delusion and urged interdependence as the alliance seeks to adapt to world changes. He avoided naming Charles de Gaulle while signaling France as a nuclear power among few, and downplayed others.

U S officials said Wessin appeared to reconsider after a peace overture amid rebels led by Caamano Deno and U S Marines presence. The junta seeks talks with Caamano though no meeting is set.
Governor Avery urged fast feasibility studies for three new turnpikes in Kansas and said state road-building could proceed without waiting for Congress. The Turnpike Authority plans a preliminary study next month with a $238000 budget, led by engineer Josef Sorkin and firm Howard Needles Tammen and Bergendoff.
The Senate rejected an amendment to the Negro voting rights bill that would ban poll taxes for state and local elections. The vote was 49 to 45, with 39 Democrats and 6 Republicans in support. The measure, led by Edward Kennedy, faced constitutional concerns and administration opposition as leaders aimed to push the bill forward by week’s end.
City opened bids from local dealers for a new police car and did not award purchase pending delivery date checks. Low bid of 1248 came from Lyle Fursman agency for a Plymouth Fury I with trade-in of a 1963 Ford patrol car, extended delivery. Other bidders were Merle Kelly Ford and Fisher Chevrolet. Ford was second low at 1400 with stock model.

Kansas traffic death log shows 0 fatalities in the 24 hours ending 9 a.m. Tuesday for May 15 1965, compared with 202 deaths in the comparable 1964 period. Local officials record consistent data across the Topeka area.
A two car collision on highway K39 about 2 30 p m yesterday left Herbert A Johnson 69 Bessie 61 and Lewis Myers 35 in satisfactory condition at Neosho Memorial Hospital. Myers failed to see the westbound Johnson car as he tried to turn onto a dirt road. Two Chanute ambulances transported the injured.
The National Education Association blacklists Oklahoma in protest of alleged substandard conditions across the state’s schools. It warns out of state teachers not to take Oklahoma jobs and may set relocation centers to aid teachers who leave. Oklahoma Education Association estimates hundreds, possibly over 10 percent of its 22 000 teachers, will seek jobs elsewhere before fall. Publicity efforts target Oklahoma officials, businesses, and the public.
Viet Cong regiments overran Song Be, killing five U.S. advisers and 20 Vietnamese soldiers, injuring 13 more, and prompting fears of a renewed push. Government forces regained the town under air cover, with a major clash developing along a river northeast of Song Be.
Neosho County joins a statewide tetanus immunization drive with clinics in Chanute Erie and St Paul for adults and high school students. Dr E C Ryan warns tetanus can strike from minor injuries and boosters are needed every three years. Clinics run May 20 27 and 28 with a 50 cent donation. follow ups set for June 24 25.

Gov. Henry Bellman refused to address about 7 000 Oklahoma teachers after a report that the National Education Association is blacklisting Oklahoma education. Senate leader Clem McSpadden cited impeachment trial as reason for absence. A statewide meeting in Oklahoma City discussed sanctions and possible teacher strikes.
The Wichita district court trial of Ralph Lane on a driving while intoxicated conviction ended in a hung jury after about three hours. City Attorney John Sherman said retrial is planned for the October term. Lane was arrested July 4 and has remained on bond through conviction and appeal.
Members of the Fort Washington Volunteer Fire Company practiced at an unused barn then received a emergency call from a nearby township as flames continued. The drill demonstrated live fire conditions and firefighting response during the training session.
A joint meeting of the city commission planning and recreation commissions with architects and builders will review improvements to the Central Park pavilion. Voters approved 35,000 in bonds at the April city election. the 1948 authorized project aims to fit needs within available funds. The 7:30 p.m. session at the Memorial building will be led by Mayor Jim Kensett.
