Old Boeing 247 Still Flying One of a Kind in Ottawa
Charles A. LeMaster of rural Ottawa keeps an old Boeing 247 in flight, the sole example of its type still airworthy. Built in 1932, the plane served airlines and the U.S. Army Air Corps, later used as a flying school bus and oil crew shuttle. LeMaster plans barnstorming tours this summer, praising its slow takeoff, short landing, and quieter, faster flight compared with the Ford Tri-Motor.
