Rose display at Carl Beck residence in Chanute
Rose lovers are invited to visit the Carl Beck residence at 201 S Kansas in Chanute to view nearly 100 rose varieties in full bloom. Beck, a retired Seventh Day Adventist minister, has cultivated roses eight years with disease free plants in raised beds and also tends phlox chrysanthemums iris and lilies. A separate rural Chanute incident reports 11 and 9 year old siblings finding a bullfrog with rabbit feet protruding from its mouth after the frog had swallowed a baby rabbit measuring about six inches. The children witnessed the unusual discovery near their pond seven miles northeast of Chanute and researchers seek to understand how the frog secured its prey.
