Deep Slump in Sales of Men's Clothing
AP Business Analyst John Caniff reports a nationwide downturn in men’s clothing sales, with 1969 to 1970 figures dropping from about 21 million to 16 million. The piece attributes the decline to overfashioned styles, higher prices, weak consumer confidence, and aggressive low‑price imports from Hong Kong, plus industry misreads of market demand.
