Recording Artist Succeeds After Writing Lyrics On Wall

Erie man William Harvey Treadway wrote the first successful lyrics to A Poor Man's Desire on his bedroom wall. The country western ballad was released by Preview Records with Danny Dahrlin as the artist and is now rising in popularity. Treadway, nearly 43, writes words for many genres but does not read music or play an instrument. He earns four cents per copy, plus 36 cents on self-sold autographed copies, and advises persistence after two decades of effort.

Cool Front Drops Readings Across Kansas Area

Iola Man Dies After Heart Attack Outside Main Street

Daniel Woodruff of Iola died on arrival at Neosho Memorial Hospital after a heart attack near 113 West Main. Firemen rushed to assist with oxygen but failed. The body was taken to Friskel Kinser Mortuary in Iola.

Jamestown Colorado Stranded by Four Day Flood

Five foot floodwaters isolated Jamestown Colorado with four days of snow and rain flooding rivers. A new access road is being built and an emergency team has reached the town of 300 as two pregnant women near term are among those stranded.
