Soybeans In Kansas Seen Favorable For Farmers
Kansas State University agronomy expert Dr. Ernest L. Mader says soybean production in the state is favorable, especially in the eastern third and irrigation areas. He notes 1940 had 26,000 acres and 1962 reached 900,000, with yields from 15 to 24 bushels per acre depending on conditions and a favorable export market supporting stable prices. He recommends row crop equipment for growing and harvesting and suggests Kent, Clark, and Shelby varieties with Kent for full-season needs.
