Bodies of Kennth Pens and James Cottrell Found in Toronto Reservoir
The bodies of Kenneth Pens 47 and James Cottrell 34 were recovered in Toronto reservoir within 24 hours of each other. Police Chief Lige Matlock said Pens was found near Woodson Cove below the dam and Cottrell’s body earlier downstream. Autopsies were not planned and both deaths were ruled accidental drownings. Pens’ car remains missing. Funeral plans and survivors are listed for both men.

Ernest Marquardt 52 of Pittsburg Kansas was awarded 75000 damages by a circuit court jury against the Kansas City Southern Railway. He injured February 18 1957 while working as a laborer in the railroad diesel shops at Pittsburg and physicians testified he could never work again as a laborer. He said he slipped and fell while dodging a pipe that broke loose.

Two Kansans Drowned on Grand Lake Off Grove Oklahoma
Giles Curtis Storm 35 and Ernest Cochran 50, both Wellington Kans., drowned when their boat capsized on Grand Lake five miles west of Grove. Cochran was Sumner County engineer, Storm his assistant. Don Simonson 35, also of Wellington, reached shore. Ray Anderson, Grand Lake Patrol chief, reported the boat swamped about a mile from shore with the men clinging to an auxiliary gas tank as they drifted.
