Rain Washes Out City Park Horse Pull Finals
Showers halted the horse pulling finals at City Park last night as 2,500 spectators rushed to cars. Thirteen teams entered. seven eliminated when rain and hail turned the ground to a quagmire. A 700 pound sled with concrete blocks was pulled 10 feet, total load over 9,000 pounds. Contest announcer C. R. Doctor recalled the sled’s 20 year service across Kansas and nearby states.
