The Neosho County Community Junior College board discussed starting Kansas State University Telenet two way audio classroom system this summer. Trustee Dr Richard Good urged a consensus on informally dropping junior college from the college name.
Neosho County Community Junior College begins two classrooms set aside this summer for Telenetwork classes linking Manhattan KS to 16 Kansas cities. Kansas State University will lecture by loudspeaker with a microphone for questions. KU and Wichita State may join in fall. Courses run June 5 through July 28 with undergraduate and graduate credit offered at 14 and 18 dollars per hour.
Thayer burglars struck the Eldridge Store around 2 a.m. taking an antique shotgun before fleeing. Mrs. Ralph Bowers said the alarm woke them and a pursuing car was seen heading north from Thayer. No damage estimate given. the gun valued at about 100 dollars or more.

A steam pipe exploded on the 36th floor of an office building at 80 Pine Street in Manhattan, killing at least seven people. Fire officials said the blast occurred in the heart of the financial district. Robert Perez of the fire department reported from the scene.
The Miami Beach City Council invited Republicans to hold the 1972 National Convention in the city and urged the federal government to provide a 1000 member peace corps. A 4 to 3 vote rejected a motion to condition the invitation on a military peace-keeping force.
