USDA report shows cattle 6,000 calves uneven on tighter supply with higher prices for fed steers and heifers. Hogs 2,000 active with barrows and gilts 25 50 higher and sows up. Sheep 1,000 moderately active with slaughter lambs steady to higher and specific weights priced.

Deaths are announced for Roscoe Spray Stanfield of Chanute aged 1003 S Central died at Neosho Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born August 22, 1885 east of Chanute and worked in oilfields and trucking. Surviving are his wife Isis Browning and three children. Funeral arrangements incomplete. Also noted are Gatch Terrill a former druggist who died at Neosho Memorial Hospital and Arley B. Witherspoon a Freemonia resident and Santa Fe railroad fireman who died March 16 with funeral services held in Freemonia. Burial followed with Masonic and military honors.

Erie Man Injured In Traffic Accident
Sheriff reports two highway crashes on Saturday with Merle Brooks of rural Erie sustaining cuts and bruises when his 1949 Ford left the road near a one way bridge on highway K6. Brooks said braking caused the skid while yielding to another vehicle. his passenger Bill Smith was unharmed and the car was a total loss. A separate collision damaged a 1935 Chevrolet pickup driven by Alexander Cesar of St Paul and a 1951 Mercury driven by Kenneth Hand of rural Erie.

Five Killed In Traffic Across Stormy Kansas
Five persons died in auto accidents during a stormy weekend in Kansas. Mrs. Darrell Cowell and her 3-year-old son John perished when their car collided with a truck on U S 81 north of Salina. Darrell Cowell was injured. Frank L. Stone was struck and killed crossing a highway near Topeka during heavy rain. Warren R. Flehr died from injuries in a Manhattan hospital after a one car crash west of Manhattan. Earl Richards was found dead in a pickup wreck on U S 69 near the Oklahoma border.
