Mid-America Wins $488 650 Jet Fuel Contract
Defense fuel office in Washington D C awarded Mid-America Refining Co of Chanute a 488 650 dollar contract to deliver five million gallons of jet fuel to the Armed Forces over six months starting in April. In Iola, Kansas, 10 year old Eric Grant Cul bertson was found strangled by a sash cord rope in a barn on the family farm seven miles southwest of Iola. Sheriff B E Lorance reported the boy appears to have entangled himself while playing. The father, Vincent Culbertson, discovered him.
