School Bills Snag In House Groups

Kansas House committees wrestle with school bills on unification and Wichita University. Unification aims for at least four districts per county with a 750 pupil minimum, but a new rule exempts counties under 8 750 potential enrollment. Seward County has 3 750 students, leaving Liberal city limits as the exception. Wichita University status remains under secretive Ways and Means negotiations between Senate passed terms and House amendments.

March daily sales around 22 000 yield about 575 000 units, with forecasts seeing 645 000 assembled and inventories near a record 1.1 million. Industry notes suggest two reasons for optimism despite high stocks.
