Ray Barker, son of Mrs. G. E. Barker, once a Beachcraft test pilot for the Denver Post, aided the 1935 stratosphere balloon flight by piloting a Beachcraft plane to retrieve a reporter and photographer. Anderson recalled Barker during a visit, citing Barker’s later career at Erickson Aircraft Co. in Wichita.
