Washington reports that Item 807 of the U S Tariff Schedules began in 1963 following a 1954 Customs Court ruling liberalizing duty free return of American products not advanced in value by manufacture. The rule applies generally to value added abroad and mirrors Item 806.30 for metal articles processed abroad. Rep Victor A Knox warned Congress of unlikely international shipment due to costs.

Department seeks more women in top USDA posts and boards

The Agriculture Department has 289 high level jobs paying 28129 dollars or more with women holding only four. A spokesman says 24 forthcoming vacancies this year will open and at least two will go to women. President Nixon urged agencies to hire more qualified women for top and mid level roles. Secretary Hardin ordered searches for women to fill high level posts and asked that one quarter of advisory board vacancies go to women with technical expertise.
