He was tossed 13 feet into a ditch then taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital for head cuts and bruises and released. The incident occurred as he ran across the road from the Noland home to a mailbox.

Woman Found Dead On City Street In Emporia
Mrs. Elma Ballinger, in her seventies and formerly of Americus Kansas, was found dead on an Emporia street. She had wandered from a rest home between 1 and 3 a.m. and walked several blocks. An autopsy was planned but the coroner indicated heart failure from exertion as the likely cause.

Wind Damage Scatters Trees in Erie Neighborhood
High winds hit a three block area in Erie around 6 a m uprooting several trees and snapping limbs with minor building damage. Rainfall exceeded one inch. City Supt James White said the worst damage was between State Street and the Santa Fe tracks with three or four trees uprooted and scattered limb damage elsewhere. No funnel was reported.
