Eagle Springs Resort Abandoned Echoes of Lost Missouri Valley

The Eagle Springs resort between Troy and Highland in Doniphan County, once a popular 75 year vacation spot with hotels and baths, is abandoned with only springs and a large pool remaining. Locals recall Lookout Mountain views and legends of healing waters, while earlier owner Plank built attractions before capital ran dry and the resort faded. Visitors once rode excursion trains from Burlington and sought Indian arrowheads amid rugged timber. Public notices also report on Lawrence fund shuttling Ballard Center finances and Vanderbilt’s removed suggestion box, plus Kansas tax talks and long term dollar decline through 1969 trends.
