New York plane crash kills 109
An Eastern Air Lines 727 bound from New Orleans crashed near Kennedy Airport killing 109 of 123 aboard. Investigators study flight recorders from this and two preceding planes to determine the crash cause as rescue crews comb debris and witnesses note lightning and a thunderstorm. The NTSB says the investigation may take up to two weeks.
