Two Wichita men, Gary Dean McManus and Bill Holt, were charged in the hit and run death of Arthur Lee Cartwright near Paola Kansas. The attendant Henry Joeckel provided the license number and reported blood on the car and a broken light. Both men admitted to being in the area around the time of the crash.

ERIE John Cleary of Spicer Minnesota a salesman suffered minor face and arm cuts in a two car crash on US 59 thirty two miles south of here about 2:30 p m yesterday. He collided with Fred Brungardt of Galesburg Illinois as Cleary tried to pass while Brungardt began a left turn. Cleary's 1955 Chevrolet overturned and was a total loss. Brungardt's 1956 Chevrolet sustained about 1000 dollars damage. Cleary was treated at the scene. Brungardt was uninjured.
