U N Security Council orders rollback on cease fire

The United Nations Security Council bans forward military moves by Israel and Syria and calls for a rollback of any advances since the cease fire was to take effect. The council acted unanimously amid Syrian charges of an Israeli armored column advancing.

Israel Eyes Gains From Six Day War In Parliament Talks

Israel’s Prime Minister Levi Eshkol signaled to Parliament in Jerusalem that Israel will keep key gains from the Six Day War including access to the Gulf of Aqaba and parts of the Jordanian bulge. The UN Security Council urged full cease fire cooperation and possible return of Bull HQ. Syrian reports of Israeli armored movements prompted an emergency call to the UN President.

Gun Battle After Stokely Carmichael Arrest

Police and National Guardsmen clashed with African Americans after Stokely Carmichael was arrested for disorderly conduct in Prattvile Alabama. More than 150 officers and guardsmen moved to the scene removing about 30 detainees and recovering a shotgun. Three officers were injured and three patrol cars damaged during the nightlong confrontation.

Chanute area faced over four inches of rain causing widespread urban and rural flooding. Authorities monitored cloud formations with observation cars and spotter duty north of Erie as gusty southerly winds and 60 percent tonight and 50 percent Tuesday precipitation chances persisted.

Storms cause damage and outages across Kansas City area

A tornado damaged several homes in the Kansas City area and floodwaters displaced at least 15 families. Lightning disrupted power for over 40 neighborhoods, striking Coffeyville’s main switching unit and forcing use of auxiliary power as repairs loom. Damages are estimated around 75 000 dollars with full restoration days or weeks away.

Four Traffic Accidents Here Are Investigated by Police

Police investigated four traffic accidents Saturday involving several local drivers. At Fifth and Garfield a noon collision damaged a 1960 Ford and a 1955 Plymouth injuring Debra Dodd and shaking Charles Donovan. A morning crash at Main and Forest damaged a 1965 Dodge pickup and a 1964 Chevrolet with minimal injuries. Another intersection collision at Second and Lincoln damaged a 1963 Valiant and a 1964 Chevrolet. A late evening crash at Grant Street damaged a 1958 Ford and a parked 1960 Pontiac. A separate report noted damage to a 1964 Pontiac parked on Main Street.

Driver Injured in One Car Crash Near US 169 Junction

Robert K. Stewart twenty three of Frontenac was treated at Neosho Memorial Hospital after a one car crash on highway K47 a mile west of the US 169 junction at about 1 35 a m yesterday. His injuries were not serious. The highway patrol said the 1963 Buick ran off the road.

The highway commission lists closures due to high water on K116 at Arrington U S 24 between Topeka and Lawrence K79 at Circleville K5 at Walcott K4 east of Valley Falls U S 59 from South Baldwin Junction to the Franklin County line K63 at Emmett K18 between K99 and K177 southeast of Manhattan K16 from McLouth to Tonganoxie and K30 between Interstate 70 and Maple Hill.

Kansas City Man Arrested for DUI and Reckless Driving

highway patrol arrested Dennis M. Kennedy of Kansas City Kansas on Saturday night for driving while intoxicated and driving left of center. He was jailed, released on 190 bond, with a 3 p.m. Wednesday hearing scheduled.
