AP reports cattle sales at 8 500 head with steers and heifers weak to 50 lower and cows down 25, hogs up 25 with barrows and gilts 16.00 to 90 for 190 250 lb, sows 13.50 to 14.25, lambs 18 to 23 50 up, feeders steady, good to prime lambs 18 to 23 50 and good to choice feeders 12 to 14, sheep 2 800 with ewes down 50 and lambs up 50.
Hogs edge higher with U S No 1 and 2 grades at 190 240 pounds 15 75 to 16 25 while U S No 1 3 mixed 230 270 pounds 14 50 to 15 50 and sows down to 12 50 13 50 bears 9 00 to 12 00. Cattle remain steady with steers and heifers 600 700 pounds 24 00 to 25 25 and other ranges 19 00 to 22 00. calves and yearlings show varied prices. Sheep see gains with spring lambs up to 22 00 and wool clip at 16 00, feeder lambs 10 00 to 12 50, slaughter ewes 2 00 to 4 00.

Chicago AP notes no wheat or soybean sales. Corn bids on No 2 yellow at 11.43 percent and No 4 yellow at 1.07 to 1.09 percent. Oats sample is grade extra heavy white 67's. Barley prices range from 1.23 to 1.43 for making choice and 98 to 115 for feed.

Grace Jackson Magby of Long Beach California a former Chanute resident died Thursday after a long illness. Survivors include two sons Vaughn overseas with the Army and Donald of Long Beach along with grandchildren. Funeral and burial took place in Long Beach. Roscoe O Ward 84 of Kansas City died Sunday after a long illness. Born October 22 1877 in Lee County Iowa he married Teresa Burns in Liberal in 1907 and was a retired carpenter. Survivors include his wife two grandchildren eight great grandchildren and a sister Mrs Mose Vi?ola Sheffler. A new nephew George Sheffler is listed. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at Johnson Mortuary with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
The Kansas wheat harvest is gaining momentum as Sumner County reports about 15 percent cut and Kingman County 10 percent completed. Officials expect more operations to surge in Barber, Pawnee, Morton, Ness, Pratt and Seward counties with placement offices opened in Lyons Sublette Jetmore Johnson Kingsley Hutchinson.

Forrest Junod continues medical technician training in Boston while planning KU Med Center return. Joyce Anderson attends 4 H Music Camp at Rock Springs Ranch with Mary Cook.

Washington AP reports how Kansas members voted on recent roll calls. On Lausche amendment, approved 57-24. on Mansfield-Dirksen amendment, approved 56-34. on foreign aid bill passage, 61-23 with Carlson and Pearson voting yes. on school lunch funds formula, 370-11 with Avery Dole Meckey Shriver Breeding voting yes. Elisworth did not vote.
The Calvary Baptist Church overflowed with spontaneous praise as Dr. Ralph H. Elliott spoke. The Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary professor faced a recent clash at the Southern Baptist Convention over his book The Message of Genesis which some delegates urged be withdrawn. Elliott serves as interim minister at Calvary and had drawn controversy in San Francisco.
The Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars adopted a resolution at its annual convention opposing a Topeka committee plan to send wheat to communist China. Ora D. Hess of a Lawrence paper company was named commander for the coming year, succeeding J. R. Matheas of Topeka.
Mr and Mrs Russell Fletcher hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Tik Tok in Humboldt Saturday ahead of the marriage of their daughter Nancy Beth Fletcher to Robert James Hopper. The affair featured centerpieces of white carnations and candles in crystal holders with guests listed.
Don C. Beach and local couples attended the Trinity White Shrine of Jerusalem ceremonial in Topeka Saturday evening. The next day the Kansas State White Shrine club at Atchison hosted the Crescent White Shrine of Jerusalem event with attendees including Mrs. Ralph Fleming and other Topeka members such as Norman Cooley and Don C. Beach.
The Rainbow Home Demonstration Unit met Friday with Mrs. J. C. Rice at 801 S. Plummer. Mrs. C. G. Shippy presided with ten members present. lessons covered spreading information about the unit and a craft session followed by refreshments. The next meeting is scheduled for July 13 with Mrs. J. W. Ames.
