Ford Says U S Must Help Free Nations But Not Fight Their Battles
President Ford states the United States will aid freedom loving nations with arms and economic support but will not fight their battles. He cites lessons from Vietnam and underlines the need for nations to defend their own interests while Washington may assist. He also notes peace talks with Israel's Rabin and possible Helsinki talks toward a European security conference.
