Violence erupts again in Indianapolis with police injured

In Indianapolis a sniper wounded a police special agent and a lieutenant was beaten as crowds of Black residents looted and rioted. Police arrested over 100 people as clashes widened across a 20 block area near the Black Panther headquarters. Al Watkins, an undercover officer, was grazed. both he and the lieutenant were treated at hospitals and released.

Policeman Writes Self A Ticket

Police Sergeant Charles Record cited himself for careless driving after his off duty car struck a 1964 Ford owned by Conrad Johnson and pushed it into a 1967 Pontiac owned by Ken McCoy at Seventh and Plummer near Neosho Memorial Hospital. He said the crash happened as he reached for a bottle of medicine. No damage estimate was made.

Weather forecast predicts cooler front with scattered showers

The Weather Bureau says Kansas will stay hot today with highs near 90 in the northwest and 95 to 100 elsewhere. A cold front from Nebraska may move into Kansas late today and into southern Kansas by Sunday, bringing cooler air and a chance of showers and thunderstorms with lows from about 60 in the northwest to 70 in the southeast.

IRS ruling saves Kansas private club liquor practices

The IRS ruled that new record keeping for Class A private clubs in Kansas does not count as selling liquor by the drink. Col. E V D Murphy says licenses remain secure and purchases must be tracked, with IRS caution on prepayment pooling.
