Twelve graduates of Chanute High School's 1909 class attended a Saturday night reunion at the Tioga Hotel. Eighteen members were present with four guests. nine classmates have died. Letters and long distance calls from former students were noted, and a gift was given to Mrs. Hazel Slane.

Missing All Night Boy Found Safe Near Home
Three year old Howard Marts wandered away from Milford Kansas home Saturday evening and was found unharmed three miles away Sunday morning. He wore a light shirt and pants and was barefoot. About 250 people including 100 Fort Riley soldiers searched ponds and roads until his discovery by farmer William Bitterlin. Parents are Mr and Mrs David Marts.

Two Kansans Die in Oklahoma Car Crash

Violent Death Toll Near 460 on Holiday
The Associated Press reports Memorial weekend saw record overall accident deaths with more than 300 traffic fatalities and 54 hours of high casualties. A mother and four of her five children died when their car was struck by a train near Crown Point Indiana. Four Killed in Iron Ore Mine Blast at Sherwood

Texas Plane Crash Fatal for Five at Sugar Land
Five people died when a light plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Hull Airport near Sugar Land Texas. The pilot Ralph Flores manager of the Hull Airport was tentatively identified. Names of the other victims were not immediately learned.
