Insurance Confirmed For Reddick Ambulance Subsidy

Reddick Ambulance Service has the insurance required under its subsidy agreement with the city, after the city manager’s office received confirmation on Wednesday. The city commission had given until Friday to prove proper coverage. without it, the $900 monthly subsidy would have been canceled. Reddick accused the city of trying to exit the contract and using the insurance issue as pretext, noting the need for ordinance changes to raise rates. He claims the ordinance was not provided to his agent, Boyd Burns, until last week, though officials say it was published last October. Reddick now has the needed coverage, but his contract ends in September as Neosho County subsidizes a hospital ambulance later. He intends to stay in business in Chanute regardless of contract status.
