Two Sides of Track Big Fact of Life by Roy L. Smith
A commentary on two moral pathways in life where industrious people face pressures from both sides of the tracks. The piece cites Cain, a judge in a youth case, a YMCA youth, and Boy Scouts as it argues that some blame circumstances while others claim personal responsibility for success.

Mail to Pile Up If Rails Strike
Postmaster Ted Bland warned Kansas City that mail will pile up at a rate of about one million pieces daily if railroad strikes occur. He outlined plans to route first class by truck, bus, or plane and move other classes within 150 miles by bus or truck, with excess mail stored at a warehouse former Army Records Center. The city post office handles about five million pieces daily.
