Officials seek volunteers for SEK employment task force
Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission members heard updates on a public employment and training program. Fred Ramirez explained about 2.25 million dollars for 85 public service jobs across nine SEK counties and about 450 training slots through on the job and school programs. Elections Bill Richman was named SERPC chairman with Joe Chambers as vice chairman and Jim Wilson as secretary treasurer. They also backed a Rural Water District No 4 request for 1.6 million federal aid to expand service to 984 people, including an 861 thousand loan and 756 thousand grant, with local 55 thousand contribution.
