Long Hair Comes to the Farm in Rural Kansas
Jack Carson 19, a 1970 Erie High School graduate, lives on a 700 acre farm east of Chanute. He grows crops and raises cattle and hogs while growing his hair for 17 months. He says long hair is a common bond among friends and a personal preference despite prejudice and taunts from some coworkers and locals.
