Perjury questions left to prosecutors Cox to weigh testimony
The Senate Watergate committee will soon submit a large file to special prosecutor Archibald Cox to decide if witnesses lied under oath or simply differed in memory. The panel has heard three versions of a March 30, 1972, Key Biscayne meeting regarding a plan tied to the Democratic National Committee break in. A second grand jury will begin in August to probe campaign fund raising, corporate contributions, and related federal law violations, while Cox also investigates White House plumbers, espionage, and the ITT antitrust case. The first grand jury’s work continues into December with the June 17 break‑in and cover‑up under review.
