Anderson Leads Other Hopefuls In KAKE Poll

KAKE TV poll two weeks before the August 1 primary shows former Gov. John Anderson Jr leading Morris Kay with 18 percent undecided in the Republican race. Nixon leads McGovern in the presidential race 64 to 27 with 9 undecided. Poll results include Lt. Gov. and U S Senate races with several candidates and large undecided shares.

City Plans Repeats Cooperative Elm Tree Removal

City Manager Kenneth Sanborn says no funds yet for a tree removal program. He notes plans to reuse last year’s cooperative approach with city departments during slack periods to remove Dutch elm disease trees. Feuer Contempt Ruling Hits Los Angeles Chick Packing Case

Los Angeles Superior Court placed Harry Feuer on three years probation and fined 500 dollars for violating a 1970 order. He was barred from calling inspectors Hitler's Gestapo and from processing chickens without inspectors present, and from using water hoses on inspectors or processing unsanitarily. Also in Washington costs rose two tenths of one percent with a 2.9 percent annual rise and a 6.1 percent paycheck gain.

Economy soars in second quarter with 8.9 percent growth

The Commerce Department reports the nations GNP rose 8.9 percent in real terms for Q2. Inflation eased to 2.1 percent, the lowest since the Nixon wage price freeze, and well below the 5.1 percent pace of Q1. In Dallas arson suspected at the Texas Book Depository, with gasoline evidence found on several floors.
