President Johnson and Defense Secretary McNamara held a full dress briefing with top aides. McNamara, back from Viet Nam, said the Viet Cong to government force ratio is totally unacceptable and suggested boosting U.S. strength, while the White House stressed the session was deliberations not a decision. No immediate actions on reinforcements or broader drafts were announced.
Santa Barbara Civil Defense rushed to standby after a prophecy warned of an earthquake and tidal wave hitting the city between July 13 and today. Elvin R. Morgan, county Civil Defense director, said officials are taking no chances to warn residents.

Cha nute Bit and Spur Saddle Club riders abandoned highway travel for cross country on the way to the International Cavalcade Roundup in Pawhuska Oklahoma. The 13 Chanute riders halted for lunch in Caney Monday then joined Caney club for the rest of the 117 mile journey. Monday night’s camp was at Hulah Dam with a 5:50 am departure yesterday. Pawhuska arrival occurred about 24 hours earlier than planned and riders will rest before the Cavalcade begins Friday. The Chanute group will trailer horses back to Chanute.
The city recreation department sponsors the last band concert by the grade school and junior high bands at 7 p.m. tomorrow in Central Park. The adult band will present the final summer concert at 8 p.m. next Thursday.

The disabled passenger liner Seven Seas was under tow in the Atlantic today heading for St John’s Newfoundland. Coast Guard reported after an engine room fire Saturday night. A tug connected Tuesday night for the 500 mile trip. The 492 foot German liner carries 400 passengers and 210 crew in good spirits.
