Local Scouts Head to National Jamboree in Colorado Springs
Thirteen Chanute and five Humboldt Boy Scouts depart Independence at 7 am for the National Scout Jamboree in Colorado Springs. Leaders accompany 18 Scouts plus adult advisory staff in two chartered buses, part of a 64-person delegation from the SEK Area Council. Event runs July 22 to 28 with return planned July 30. 54,000 Scouts expected nationwide.

Three Men Held After Allen County Burglaries
In Iola Kansas three men and a boy were detained in connection with break ins at a La Harpe grocery store and an Iola auto agency and an attempted La Harpe drug store raid.
