Lawn Care Guide Promotes Monthly Bermuda Fertilizing
County farm agent Bill Dickson says Bermuda and Zoysia lawns benefit from monthly fertilizing through summer, unlike spring fall care for bluegrass. Use 10-20-0 or 16-20-0 or 3 pounds of 3-2-2 fertilizer per 1,000 sq ft, then water deeply. Maintain mowing heights of less than one inch for bermuda and similar grasses, while cool season grasses stay at 1.5 to 3 inches. higher mowing helps curb crabgrass.
