Two southeast Kansas residents among dead in weekend accidents
Two single vehicle crashes in southeast Kansas over the weekend killed drivers Carl L. Bennett 28 of Piqua and Larry G. Marr 19 of Coyville. Bennett's 1973 Chevrolet left a bridge near Humboldt and overturned. Marr's 1967 American Rebel struck a guard rail near Buffalo. Additional fatalities occurred in Sedgwick and Atchison counties. Funeral details list Bennett survived by parents Clifford and unnamed mother. Marr survived by Glade Wanda Smith Marr and brother Steven.

U S Army Colonel Ernest Morgan 43 of Petersburg Virginia freed after 13 days in captivity by Palestinian guerrillas in Beirut. He traveled with his wife Margaret and 11 year old son Byron to Ankara and then Europe for rest before returning to his post. Morgan said captors freed him due to worldwide appeals especially from American blacks and noted good treatment and surprisingly good food during confinement.
