Kansas City authorities issued a pickup order for a suspect in the disappearance of Denise Clinton a 9 year old who was abducted during a motel robbery near Independence Missouri. More than 200 officers and volunteers searched the Platte County area using helicopters bloodhounds and cadets with no trace found. The FBI entered the case as the Reynolds family appealed for Denise to be returned unharmed.

A four engine Canadian Pacific Airlines DC6B on Flight 21 from Vancouver to Whitehorse exploded in flight and crashed in remote rangeland near a small shipping town 170 miles northeast of Vancouver. Five Charged With Felony After Breakfast Snack Bar Break-In
Five youths from Humboldt Raymond Watkins Fredonia Saugatuck and Mich Gary Wilson and Anna Wood were arraigned in city court on second degree burglary and larceny charges for breaking into the Chanute Speedway snack bar on West Main. They faced preliminary hearings with bonds set at 1500 each and were jailed after unable to post bond. Police traced the car to Wood and Weese and recovered nickels wieners beans and other food items stolen from the snack bar.
