Quick arrest after bad check at James Shoe Store
In a 20 minute chase, Undersheriff Jack Reynolds and Police Chief Tom Morehead captured alleged hot check passer Robert Dale Wilson 11 miles west of Chanute after he left the James Shoe Store. Police tracked the taxi he rode, pursued on K39 Highway, and caught him at the K39 US 75 junction. Wilson is held in Erie County jail for trial.

Two Traffic Accidents Investigated by Police
Two minor car crashes were investigated by police Monday with no injuries. Willie Ornelas six teen was cited for reckless driving after his 1947 station wagon hit Donald Gillihan's 28 vehicle at 1719 South Santa Fe. Ornelas pleaded guilty in police court and paid a twenty five dollar fine. Front fender and hood damage occurred to Ornelas's car and the Gillihan car suffered a damaged trunk lid. Ornelas was southbound while Gillihan turned right onto Santa Fe. A second accident on East Main involved Janice Browning's 1952 Chevrolet with a backing 1950 Nash driven by Fred Thielenhaus causing right rear fender damage to Browning's car. Thielenhaus's car was undamaged.
