Dwight C. Diver prominent stockman and longtime Neosho county commissioner died at Neosho Memorial Hospital at 10 a.m. after an extended illness. He was 82 and lived at 929 Highland. Diver, born near Neosho Falls, helped organize Yates Center Electric Co. and Humboldt Light and Power Co. later merging with Kansas Utilities. He served on the Neosho board of county commissioners from 1941 to January, was active in farming, the First Presbyterian Church, Rotary, and Boy Scouts. He leaves Fayma E. Price, a son Randall L. Diver, daughter Mrs. Lee Judy, three grandchildren, three sisters, and three brothers. funeral arrangements are pending. Memorials may go to the First Presbyterian Church.

Woman dies after fall from Kansas Statehouse dome
A 43 year old woman identified as Anna Eileen Short McClain of Memphis Tennessee died when she fell about 125 to 150 feet from the Kansas Statehouse dome area. Officials say she likely fell from a stairway used by tourists and struck a guard rail and a maintenance cart before dying. Authorities opened an investigation with Kansas Bureau of Investigation help and state officials moved to close the dome stairway temporarily.

An 87 year old man died and two others were seriously injured in a collision between a pickup and a car at the junction of U S 59 and 54 near Moran. Frank J. Miller of Kincaid died at Allen County Hospital. Injured were Donald R. Tennant 50 of Fort Scott driver of the truck and his wife Dorothy Tennant 39.

12-Year-Old Held In Chanute Break-In Case
A 12-year-old Chanute boy was held by police in a break-in at the Anderson filling station on Island Central. Three other juvenile suspects were being questioned about the incident and related shoplifting. The youth admitted taking two packs of cigarettes a small knife and keys.
