Chanute Housing Authority to buy 43 sites for low rent homes
Housing Authority chairman Dr. J. C. Sanders says purchase of 43 sites secured by option will begin in about two weeks after the agency receives ten percent of its HUD grant. HUD awards 1,837,618 dollars for 92 dwelling units including a high rise for seniors. Construction bids will follow site purchases.

Ingle to Head Neosho County Engineer Post in Erie

Humboldt man found dead by self strangulation in hospital bed
Willard L. Eastham 79 of Humboldt was found strangled by a bed cord at Neosho Memorial Hospital about 11 45 p m Thursday. Coroner Dr Henry Baker ruled death by own action saying Eastham leaned out of bed using a noose attached to the electrical cord. He had been admitted 10 days earlier for medical treatment and was reported asleep at a 10 30 p m nurse check. Eastham born January 26 1892 near Savonburg moved to Humboldt in 1903 worked as a machinist for Service Pipeline Co retired since 1956. He married Hattie Callis December 28 1951 at Lyndon and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Humboldt. Survived by his widow two brothers and a sister. Funeral at Price Funeral Home Humboldt 2 p m Saturday with Rev LeRoy Foreman officiating burial Mount Hope Cemetery Humboldt.
