The Kansas Senate intended to commend the Pittsburg high school band for its Cherry Blossom Festival appearance in Washington. Sen. Ted Saar noted the clerk’s slip from condemn to commend and the resolution was approved.
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted two Big Ten defensive backs in round eight. Mike Sensibaugh from Ohio State stands 5-11 and weighs 192 pounds while Rick Telander from Northwestern is 6-1 and 191 pounds.
Dwayne Murrell, 21, had a robbery/extortion case dropped in Ranhattan Kansas after Kansas Board of Regents member T. J. Griffith chose not to prosecute. County attorney Larry McGrath cited Griffiths long friendship with the accuseds parents as a reason. Murrell was arrested last December.
The Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police backs a no knock search measure in the state legislature and says local officers lack representation on Gov. Docking's law enforcement committee. The panel distributes federal Safe Streets Act funds to Kansas.
Sen. Elwaine Pomeroy criticized a public administration pay plan in the Senate on Thursday. He cited proposed scales showing animal caretakers starting at 432 dollars a month and rising to 551, while hospital attendants would start at 321 and reach 411, calling the setup inequitable.
The December rise in living costs was five-tenths of one percent driven by housing services medical care food and autos. The year 1970 total inflation reached 5.5 percent making it the second worst in two decades after 1969’s 6.1 percent.

Doctors estimate Kansas and Greater Kansas City burn deaths total about 85 annually. Donations can be mailed to Kathy Kihm Memorial Fund Box 1000 Robinson Kansas 66532.
Intercepted letter addressed to Cha states that everyone will have to work to raise money, revealing the concept of a full employment budget. The message implies universal labor requirements and shared financial burdens as a policy aim.

Arthur Gaylord Anderson, 19, of Fairfax Virginia, a Kansas State University freshman and skydiving club member, died when his parachute failed to open after leaping from 3,000 feet. The crash occurred near Wamego, where the club operates from a plane base.

Robert 39 and his son Erick 11 were killed when their pickup collided with a Frisco switch engine about 5 15 p m Thursday three miles northwest of Neodesha at a county road intersection with the Frisco railroad The accident left another son George Wesley Jr 12 in critical condition at Wesley Hospital Wichita George Robert was brother of Mrs Glenn Kiddoo of Chanute.
