A Chanute bicentennial picnic at Santa Fe Park on July 5 will close the town’s yearlong celebration. Organizers led by John Willcott seek clubs to run food and game booths with profits supporting their groups. A Feb 24 meeting will organize reports and booth plans for a massive community event.
Government economists note a 5.4 percent rise in real GNP in the fourth quarter to 1.22 trillion dollars while real GNP for 1975 fell 2 percent to 1.19 trillion. They predict a sustained recovery into 1976 with solid gains in business spending and consumer outlays despite cautious spending.
Neosho County uses an eight year old investment program to place idle funds in certificates of deposit through local banks. Interest supports hospital construction, bridge projects, sheriff’s equipment, and Stark light. Revenue sharing funds and other county revenues bolster the financial picture.
